One of the heaviest croppers among all tomato varieties!

1. Original Name: Видимо-невидимо, or Vidimo-Nevidimo (Thick As Blackberries).

2. History: Bred by Sibirsky Sad, a farming company from Novosibirsk. It has become popular due to its productivity, which can be compared to that of hybrid varieties.

3. Plant Specifications: Early for a greenhouse and medium early for outdoors. Cold tolerant. This variety can produce fruits for a long time so you are sure to have tomatoes all the time. Determinate, short bush, tree-type, growing 2-2.6 feet (60-80 cm) tall. Thick and firm stem. Regular leaf. Regular or double truss, 5-8 fruits per truss.

The original specification for the Vidimo-Nevidimo variety says that the first truss is formed above the fourth leaf while the second truss is formed above the sixth leaf. All subsequent trusses are formed above the leaves being the next but one. We have never counted the leaves when growing these tomatoes.

4. Training Instructions: No pruning is required. It is enough to remove the first two or three suckers so that a tree-type bush could be formed. We got a real surprise! As fruits developed, they formed a 'dome' on the top of the stem. There was a bunch of fruits so the bush could hardly bear them though it was tied to a stake. Some tomato breeders train the bushes to three main stems but they occupy a greater area in this case.

Staking is a must! This variety is very productive so bushes usually fall on the ground because of heavy fruits.

5. Shape and Weight: Round with the last fruits being smaller in size, small ribs near the stem end. Weight: 2.1-3.5 oz. (60-100 g).

6. Color: Red color without any green or yellow spots near the stem end. Red in a cut as well, gel-like sac of a lighter color in seed cavities.

7. Flavor Profile: Soft and gentle taste, pleasant tomato flavor. The flesh is sugary in a cut. The walls and septa are thick but there is enough juice as well.

8. Culinary Use: A universal variety. One of the best tomato varieites for canning. The fruits keep well after harvesting. No cracks.
A stable variety. Very popular among tomato breeders. Valued for its high productivity. Vidimo-Nevidimo is a good choice for growing in big containers. The bush is very tidy. Fruits can be smaller in size than when growing in a greenhouse or outdoors but this difference is not significant.
