1. Original Name: Kecskemeti 549 (which means '549 from the city of Kecskemet' in Hungarian).

2. History: A famous variety originating from Hungary. Developed by the tomato breeding center in Kecskemet (Hungary) specially for canning. Along with other varieties, it made Hungary one of the leaders of the canning industry and a major tomato growing center for the canning industry.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for outdoors and a greenhouse. Determinate short bush, growing up to 1.6 feet (50 cm) tall. Thin stem, regular leaf. Firm regular truss, 4-6 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: No pruning is required but it is necessary to tie all of the longest stems. The variety is very prolific and the bushes may fall on the ground.

5. Shape and Weight: Plum-shaped paste fruits. Weight: 1.7-2.1 oz. (50-60 g).

7. Flavor Profile: Sweet and slightly tart. Intense tomato flavor. The fruits have two seed cavities, and the walls are very thick, meaty and sugary in a cut. One of the meatiest varieties with Roma fruits.
