1. Original Name: Habanada.

2. History: Developed by famous plant breeder Michael Mazourek (Cornell University, USA). His goal was to breed a heatless habanero while keeping its fruity flavor. To develop this variety, he had to grow and select it during 13 generations. The variety became more popular after it was introduced at the Culinary Breeding Network Variety Showcase in 2014. There can be only mild spice in some fruits and just in the flesh near the seeds. That is why no Scoville units are provided for this variety in many other sources.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. It can produce fruits for a long time. A good choice for growing outdoors and in a greenhouse. You can also grow this pepper in large pots in your balcony or on your window sill provided there is enough sun and you use good fertilizers and hand pollination techniques. Short and compact bush growing up to 1-1.3 feet (30-40 cm) tall.
Though it is a heatless variety but it is not recommended to plant it close to chili or sweet papers. If there is no other way, you can plant it near Shishito and Pimiento di Padron, which are semi-hot pepper varieties. However, it is preferable to choose a separate place for this variety. It is not a chili or sweet pepper as it is a sweet habanero. That is why this variety is among semi-hot peppers in our catalogue though it is 99% sweet in reality. Short and compact bush growing up to 1-1.3 feet (30-40 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: No training or staking is required as the bushes are stable.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated tear-shaped fruits with uneven ribs. Weight: 0.5-0.7 oz. (15-20 g).

6. Color: The fruits are light green at the mature-green stage and peach-colored or orange when fully ripe.

7. Flavor Profile: The only habanero variety in the world everyone including the kids can eat not being afraid of its heat. There can be some spice in some of the fruits but it is very mild. The walls are thin but unbelievably sweet and crisp while having that magnificent fruity and flower flavor typical of habanero peppers. Some people think its flavor to be rather melon-like or floral. Many chefs of the world appreciate Habanada due to its flavor profile.

8. Culinary Use: Very delicious for eating fresh. You can just eat its pieces along with main dishes. Perfect for fresh and rich salads. You can also add it in your cans when canning. A good choice for freezing to be used in winter (but its flavor will become milder). Also perfect for sauces and paste if you do not want them to be hot. You can also add a lot of Habanada peppers to introduce an exotic flavor to your spicy sauce. Anyone who has ever tasted Habanada will like it for ever!
