1. Original Name: Oregon Star.

2. History: Bred by Dr. James R. Baggett at Oregon State University (OSU). A sister to Oregon Pride. Developed as a cross between Santiam and Roma and released in 1993.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Perfect for growing outdoors. It grows a little faster in a greenhouse. Short bush, growing up to 1.6-2.3 feet (50-70 cm) tall. Thin stem, regular leaf. There are 3-5 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: No pruning is required but it is necessary to tie the longest stems as the fruits are heavy. We tied the trusses as well because large and heavy fruits can break the stem.

5. Shape and Weight: Round and plum-shaped fruits. Weight: 7-10.6 oz. (200-300 g).

6. Color: Bright red. The flesh is red.

7. Flavor Profile: Full-flavored with a pleasant taste being sweet and slightly tart. Tomato flavor. The fruits have flesh only and are nearly seedless!

8. Culinary Use: One of the meatiest tomato varieties being perfect for salads, slicing, pizza, sun-drying and freezing. Also ideal for thick sauces.
