1. Original Name: Легенда Тарасенко, or Legenda Tarasenko (Tarasenko’s Legend). Also known as Nadezhda Tarasenko or Nadiya Tarasenko.

2. History: Bred by amateur tomato breeder Feodosiy Tarasenko (village of Voronezh, Shostka district, Sumy region, Ukraine). Feodosiy Tarasenko called his varieties 'hybrids' just nominally. Today these are stable old varieties with wonderful characteristics. When breeding his varieties Tarasenko used San Marzano, a popular tomato variety. Legenda Tarasenko is known to be the last variety bred by Feodosiy Tarasenko.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. The trusses are very large and have a lot of stems, and there are more than 15-25 fruits per truss. A very beautiful variety.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to train the bush to two main stems, and staking and pruning are a must. It is also preferable to tie heavy clusters.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated icicle-shaped fruits with pointed tips. Weight: 2.1-2.8 oz. (60-80 g).

6. Color: Bright red.

7. Flavor Profile: The Legenda Tarasenko variety is just as delicious as Hybrid Tarasenko 2. It is sweet with a nice balance of sweetness and tartness, and the walls are very meaty and sugary. However, the flesh seems to be softer than that of Hybrid Tarasenko 2.

8. Culinary Use: Ideal for canning whole tomatoes, salads, freezing, sun-drying and thick sauces as well as for long-term storage. A universal variety.
