1. Original Name: Brad’s Black Oxheart. Also known as Brad’s Black Heart or Black Oxheart.
2. History: Discovered by famous tomato breeder Brad Gates in his farm in a patch of several thousand Black Krim plants and later stabilized by him.
3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6 feet (180 cm) tall.
4. Training Instructions: The bush can be trained to one or two main stems.
5. Shape and Weight: Round and heart-shaped fruits, sometimes with flat pointed tips. Weight: 3.5-7 oz. (100-200 g). However, the plant can produce fruits weighing up to 17.6 oz. (500 g) if the weather conditions are good and if the clusters are shaped.
6. Color: Red and brown. Dark green near the stem end. The flesh is red and crimson in a cut with light green seed cavities. The flesh is meaty and sandy.
7. Flavor Profile: Sweet with a complex tomato and fruity flavor. Very tasty!
8. Culinary Use: A good choice both for eating fresh and canning.
