1. Original Name: Алтей, or Altei (Althaea).

2. History: A variety originating from Ukraine. Selected by the Institute of Vegetable and Melon Growing (National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine). The variety was named after Althaea, a genus of medicinal herbs from the Malvaceae family.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Determinate short bush, growing up to 3.3 feet (100 cm) tall. Ideal for large-scale growing! A good choice for growing both in a greenhouse and outdoors.

4. Training Instructions: The variety is a very heavy cropper and side stems may break away from the main stem, so it is recommended to tie the bush.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated pepper-shaped fruits. Weight: 1.8-2.1 oz. (50-60 g) or even more.

6. Color: Red without any green spots near the stem end.

7. Flavor Profile: Sweet with a tomato flavor. The flesh is firm and sugary, and there are few seeds.

8. Culinary Use: Perfect for canning. Also a good choice for freezing or sun-drying due to its firm flesh.
