Tomato 'Dwarf Velvet Night'

1. Original Name: Dwarf Velvet Night.

2. History: Bred by the Dwarf Tomato Project. Developed by Ray South in 2008 as a cross between Black Cherry and Golden Dwarf Champion. A recent variety.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for growing outdoors and in a greenhouse. Short bush, determinate, growing up to 3.3 feet (100 cm) tall. Thick stem, rugose leaf. Regular truss, 4-6 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: No pruning or training is required. However, it is recommended to tie all of the longest stems.

5. Shape and Weight: Round and smooth fruits. Weight: 1.8-2.5 oz. (50-70 g).

6. Color: Bright purple with the flesh being deep purple and violet. Very beautiful.

7. Flavor Profile: Very sweet with the right balance of sweetness and tartness. Full-flavored with a smoky and spicy flavor. The flesh is soft, juicy and buttery.

8. Culinary Use: Very delicious in fresh salads! Also a good choice for juices, sauces and other canning.
