1. Original Name: Шунтукский великан, or Shuntuksky Velikan (Giant of Shuntuk).

2. History: A variety from Russia. It originates from the village of Shuntuk (Republic of Adygea). Bred by amateur tomato breeders. Originally introduced by Biotechnica, a Russian farming company (St. Petersburg, Russia). Entered on the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2005.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Indeterminate, very tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to two main stems, and staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: The first trusses produce large fruits weighing up to 28 oz. (800 g). The average weight of fruits on other trusses is 10.6-14 oz. (300-400 g). Beefsteak fruits with shallow ribs near the stem end.

6. Color: Bright red. The fruits are very firm and seem to be too heavy when you hold them in your hand. But the flesh is soft and sandy.

7. Flavor Profile: Sweet and slightly tart, very pleasant, with an intense tomato flavor. This taste is traditional and many people love it.

8. Culinary Use: A good choice for salads and canning. The fruits can keep well for some time after harvesting.
