1. Original Name: Emerald Pear.

2. History: An heirloom variety originating from China. This variety should not be confused with Green Pear originating from the United States. Emerald Pear remains green when fully ripe while Green Pear turns to bronze.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. This variety is very resistant to diseases and prolific.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to train the bush to two main stems, and staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: Pear-shaped and oval fruits. Weight: 2.8-3.5 oz. (80-100 g).

6. Color: Bright-green with a dark green spot near the stem end. The fruits remain green and do not turn to yellow when fully ripe so you can check whether the fruit is ripe judging by its softness.

7. Flavor Profile: Unbelievably sweet with a well-balanced fruity and tomato flavor. The walls are thick and firm, and the flesh is juicy.

8. Culinary Use: Perfect for eating fresh and canning as paste, sauces and juices. The fruits are a good choice for sun-drying due to their thick walls.
