1. Original Name: Gezahnte (which means 'toothed' in German) or Gezahnte Bührer-Keel.

2. History: a rare variety originating from Italy. First introduced by Isabella Bührer-Keel of Basel (Switzerland) who received the seeds from an Italian man whose mother used to grow this tomato in Naples (Italy). Offered in the Seed Savers 2003 Yearbook by Sylvia Davatz of Vermont (USA) who received seeds from Pro Specie Rara in 2001.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. A good choice for growing outdoors but it is recommended to grow it in a greenhouse.

4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to one or two main stems, and staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: The fruits are a work of beauty! Many tomato breeders got fascinated by this variety so it became an ideal decoration not only for their gardens but also for their festive tables. There are a lot of elongated and ribbed fruits per truss. Weight: 5.3-10.6 oz. (150-300 g).

6. Color: Red and pink.

7. Flavor Profile: Very pleasant taste being sweet and slightly tart with a bright tomato flavor. This tomato is perfect for those who love tomatoes with a traditional tomato taste but with an exotic shape. The fruits are half empty in a cut because the seed cavities are concentrated in the center only. However, the wall are thick, firm, meaty and sugary in a cut.

8. Culinary Use: This variety is one of the best choices for stuffing. You just need to remove all the seeds using a spoon. You can also cut the fruits in half vertically and stuff them. If you cut the fruits into rings they will also be an ideal decoration for any dishes. This tomato is perfect for sun-drying. Due to their firm and meaty walls, these tomatoes are a good choice for making thick and full-flavored paste, sauces and ketchup.
