1. Original Name: Gargamel.

2. History: A recent variety originating from the USA. Bred by Phil Seneca of Good Mind Seeds (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA). This variety was named after a fictional character from the Smurfs (animated TV series, films and comic series). Gargamel, an evil wizard being the main antagonist of the Smurfs, wears a black robe and red shoes, and the black and red colors of the fruits resemble Gargamel’s clothes.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Indeterminate tall bush with wispy sparse foliage, growing up to 6 feet (180 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to two main stems, and pruning and staking are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: Oval fruits with some of them having flat pointed tips. Weight: 3.5-4.2 oz. (100-120 g).

6. Color: The color of the fruits will not leave you indifferent. They are black near the stem and orange with red and brown streaks in the upper part. The fruits resemble flame-colored flowers.

7. Flavor Profile: Sweet taste with a soft fruity and tomato flavor. The walls are firm and sugary in a cut.

8. Culinary Use: These tomatoes will be a perfect decoration for your dishes. Delicious for eating fresh. A good choice for sun-drying. Also a good choice for canning whole tomatoes.
