An old variety from Italy being a real catch.

1. Original Name: Dix Doigts de Naples.

2. History: An heirloom variety originating from Italy. However, its name is French and means 'Ten Fingers of Naples' in French. In Italy, these tomatoes are often used for cooking different dishes such as pizza, paste, sauces or sun-dried tomatoes in oil.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, medium-size bush, growing 4.3-5 feet (130-150 cm) tall. Thick stem, regular leaf. Regular truss, 6-8 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: The bush can be trained to three or four main stems. The bush is rather firm. A heavy cropper. Staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated cylindrical fruits, often with several ribs. Weight: 1.4-3.5 oz. (40-100 g).

6. Color: Red. Red in a cut as well. No yellow or green spots near the stem end.

7. Flavor Profile: Very pleasant, soft and well-balanced taste being sweet and acidic. Tomato flavor. The flesh is rather sandy flesh, and the walls are thick with little juice.

8. Culinary Use: A universal variety. Perfect for fresh salads. A good choice for canning whole tomatoes or making paste and ketchup. Ideal for sun-drying and freezing.

Dix Doigts de Naples is a stable variety. A heavy cropper with huge quantities of fruit.
