A beautiful heavy cropper bred by Tom Wagner.

1. Original Name: Casady’s Folly.

2. History: Bred by tomato breeder Tom Wagner. One of the parent varieties was Banana Legs. Tom named it in memory of his friend Mark Casady. First listed in the SSE Yearbook in 2010.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Perfect for growing both in a greenhouse and outdoors. Determinate, medium-size bush, growing up to 2.6-3.3 feet (80-100 cm) tall. Thin climbing stems, thin droopy regular leaves. The truss is regular and elongated. 4-5 fruits per truss.

4. Training Instructions: It is very important to tie the main stem, which can grow up to 3.3 feet (100 cm) tall. The stems are thin so the bush will just fall on the ground and occupy too much space if you do not tie it. It is also necessary to tie new stems growing from suckers. You may need to tie the bushes 4-8 times.

5. Shape and Weight: Long pepper-shaped fruits with pointed tips or a cavity in the upper part. Weight: 1.8-3.5 oz. (50-100 g).

6. Color: As the fruits ripe, the color becomes brighter with new tints. The background is red with green, yellow and orange stripes. Tri-color. Red in a cut.

7. Flavor Profile: Slightly sweet and soft with a soft tomato flavor. The flesh is firm and meaty, and there are few seeds and little juice.

8. Culinary Use: Ideal for canning because the fruits are firm and crack-resistant and can fit into any can. Perfect for those who love salads with meaty tomatoes or sandwich slices. The flesh can be sun-dried or frozen. Keep well for a few days after harvesting.

Casady’s Folly is a stable and very prolific variety in spite of its thin stems! The plants are droopy but this is their original characteristic.
