1. Original Name: Midas.

2. History: According to the information provided by a Polish website, Midas is a Polish heirloom variety. It might have had a different name before but now it is popular under the name of Midas. The word 'Midas' is a name. As we assume, this variety was named after Midas, a king of Phrygia who received a gift from Dionysus being the ability to turn everything he touched into gold. After all, the fruits of this variety are orange and resemble gold.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. A good choice for a greenhouse and outdoors. Indeterminate, tall bush, growing up to 6.5 feet (200 cm) tall. Thin stem, slightly droopy regular leaves. Elongated regular truss with up to 10 fruits per truss!

4. Training Instructions: It can be trained to two or three main stems, and staking and pruning are a must.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated pepper-shaped fruits with small pointed tips. Weight: 1.8-3.5 oz. (50-100 g).

6. Color: Bright orange. The fruits may have green shoulders at the mature-green stage but they disappear when fully ripe.

7. Flavor Profile: Very sweet. There are gardeners who do not like the taste of yellow or orange tomatoes. But this variety is really tasty, sweet and full-flavored. The flesh is buttery and sugary, and the walls are thick.

8. Culinary Use:
Perfect for canning whole tomatoes as their skin does not crack. A good choice for thick sauces. A good slicer tomato for salads and pizza. Good for sun-drying as well. The fruits keep and transport well, and it is an all-purpose tomato.
