1. Original Name: Farmer’s Market Jalapeno. Also known as Farmer’s Market Potato and Potato Skin Jalapeno.

2. History: Introduced at one of the farmer’s markets in the state of Maine (USA). Discovered and released by John Fiedler. Scoville scale: 5,000-8,000 SHU.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. It can produce fruits for a long time. A good choice for growing outdoors and in a greenhouse. Short bush with a lot of branches, growing 1.6-2.3 feet (50-70 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: No staking or pruning is required. The bush is stable. It may be necessary to tie some of the longest stems.

5. Shape and Weight:
Smooth cylindrical pods. The pods have a corking skin with cracks appearing on it when exposed to the sun. But this does not have any negative impact on the taste being rather an unusual particular feature of this variety. Weight: 1.4-1.8 oz. (40-50 g).

6. Color: The pods are dark green at the mature-green stage and red when ripe. They have a mesh-like pattern covering almost the entire pod when fully ripe.

7. Flavor Profile:
You can eat the pods both at the mature-green stage and fully ripe. The taste has a pepper flavor and is sweet and hot. The flesh is meaty, and the walls are thick.

8. Culinary Use: A good choice for eating fresh and making sauces or a spice for many dishes. If you grill or fry the pods, you will notice a slight flavor of wood due to the skin.
