Pepper 'Doux d'espagne'

1. Original Name: Doux d’Espagne (Sweet Spanish).

2. History: An old family heirloom that became popular on Spanish and French markets in the 1860s. It is also known as Sweet Spanish Mammoth due to its sweet large fruits.

3. Plant Specifications: Mid-season. Suitable for growing in a greenhouse and outdoors. Short bush, growing up to 1.6-2.3 feet (50-70 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to tie the longest stems so that they do not break because of heavy fruits.

5. Shape and Weight: Elongated tapered fruits being up to 0.7 foot (20 cm) long. In most cases, the fruits have two or three lobes but you can have four-lobed and long fruits as well! Weight: 5.3-7 oz. (150-200 g).

6. Color: The fruits are dark green at the mature-green stage and dark red when fully ripe.

7. Flavor Profile: Very meaty, sweet and flavorful.

8. Culinary Use: It is very tasty when grilled. Perfect for fresh salads, pickling or any type of canning.
