PACKAGING: Sachet Zip-lock 12-15 SEEDS

1. Original Name: Nocturne.

2. History: We bought the seeds for growing these peppers from the Vertiloom online store. According to their information, Nocturne is an old heirloom variety originating from Hungary.

3. Plant Specifications:
Mid-season. Suitable for growing in a greenhouse and outdoors. Short plant, growing 1.6 feet (50 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to tie the longest stems so that they do not break because of heavy fruits. The entire bush can bend or fall down on soft soil after heavy rains.

5. Shape and Weight: Tapered pointed fruits being wide near the stem and having pointed tips in the upper part. Weight: 3.5-4.2 oz. (100-120 g).

6. Color: The fruits are dark blue at the mature-green stage until they start ripening. They mature to dark red, and almost the entire fruit gets dark red. There is anthocyanin (blue) marbling in rare cases. Pods of this color growing upwards resemble live coals and are a real decoration among other peppers.

7. Flavor Profile: Just like other sweet peppers, this variety is sweet and crisp and has an intense pleasant flavor. The walls are medium thick being about 0.12-0.16 in. (3-4 mm) thick. The seeds are not numerous and are concentrated near the stem end.

8. Culinary Use:
These peppers are best for fresh salads. Their beautiful flesh cut into rings (quarters) will make your salad or any other cold dish exotic and unique. A good choice for adding to hot dishes and canning (sautéed dishes, lecsó or borscht dressing) but blue anthocyanin will fade as it will be boiled down. In Europe, these peppers are grown in large (10 liter) pots.

However, if you do not have enough soil you can grow them in a basket as well but the fruits will be smaller in size.
