1. Original Name: Jalapeno Lemon Spice NuMex.

2. History: Bred in 1995 by the Chili Pepper Institute (New Mexico State University). This project also developed two varieties more, NuMex Orange Spice Jalapeno and NuMex Pumpkin Spice Jalapeno.

3. Plant Specifications: Early-season. It can produce fruits for a long time. Suitable for growing in a greenhouse and outdoors. Short plant, growing 1-1.3 feet (30-40 cm) tall.

4. Training Instructions: It is recommended to tie the main stem otherwise the bush may fall on the ground after watering or rain because of heavy fruits.

5. Shape and Weight: Blocky (cigar-shaped) tapered fruits. Weight: 0.9-1 oz. (25-30 g). The fruits are 4 in. (10 cm) long.

6. Color: The fruits are dark green at the mature-green stage and turn bright orange (even tangerine-colored) when fully ripe. The fruits are smooth, glossy and very beautiful.

7. Flavor Profile:
Sweet, juicy and crisp at first and later very hot. Pepper flavor. The walls are very meaty and thick being about 0.1 in. (3 mm) thick.

8. Culinary Use: A good choice for eating fresh, making sauces, vinegar pickling or grilling.
